Bye Bye Paula

I had discovered some very disheartening news today.  Paula Abdul from American Idol will not be returning for a 9th season.  Boo hoo!  All the American Idol jokes are lost without Paula!  Her complete optimism in every contestant made the show lots of fun to watch.  I'm completely and utterly that neither the show nor Paula could come to an agreement on the contract.  Well, farewell Paula. It was fun while it lasted.  Hopefully you don't drop into obscurity as most other celebrities do when they leave a franchise.  Maybe join So You Think You Can Dance?

Funny People

I got to see Funny People last night with very high expectations.  Although I wouldn't say I was disappointed, there was a sense of un-fulfillment.  There were many great one liners and at times I was literally laughing to hard to hear the next joke.  However, it felt like the funny parts were the only good parts of the movie.  The story line was hallow and left unadventured.  The characters were very flawed and the character development never really took off.  There was a serious lack of closure in the last 10 minutes of the movie which left me saying what just happened?  However, I will say it is a good flick but it definitely isn't one of Apatow's better works.  It might have been a better stand up movie than a funny movie trying to add a flawed plot.

I say don't see it in theaters.  Wait for someone you know to let you borrow the dvd.

Bottom line 5/10

Michael Phelps is a Sore Loser

A day after losing the 200 meter free to Paul Biedermann of Germany, Michael Phelps has begun to make excuses for his loss. Most of the other swimmers including Biedermann have a new more advanced swimsuit that supposedly makes a big difference. Since Phelps is sponsored by Speedo, and the do not produce this suit he was not able to wear it. Phelps states this as the reason for his defeat. Phelps needs to take this defeat like a man and not make excuses, and if he is going to complain to anyone it should be to Speedo. They are the ones who need to keep up with the competition, if there suits are worse than Michael Phelps does worse. Phelps is truly amazing but he needs to take his defeats like a man, and not point the finger at someone else.

Parks and Recreation

Ok, while this show follows the mockumentary style of the Office, it's not as funny.  However, it definitely has a little charm.  Amy Poehler has a lot of difficultly carrying a lead role, a problem that comes from a lot of her work.  Her lead roles is a semi cheap knock off of Steve Carrol's character.  There were a few funny lines and it does has a lot of true moments about local government.  I say if your bored and nothing is on tv, try it out.  It's also available on nbc.com for full episode viewing.  I will say that I started watching this show because I'm a huge fan of Rashida Jones...

Enter at Your Own Risk

I am Back!

So yeah I have not written for a while, but good news everyone I am back! I have been a major slacker recently, but here I am. One thing that has been in the sporting news recently is the fact that Tim Tebow was not unanimously the All-SEC preseason quarterback. Steve Spurrier admits that he was the one who left Tebow off of the ballot, but states that it was not intentional and he has nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for Tebow. Spurrier has now changed his vote to make it unanimous. However, people are upset at Spurrier thinking that the apology is not sincere. I believe Spurrier is truly sorry for the mistake of not putting Tebow on the ballot, but I also believe that this is not an issue at all! A preseason All-SEC team will have no impact on Tebow's legacy, or how he is going to play this year. Spurrier does not even need to apologize since he really has not done anything wrong. Yes Tebow is a great player, and yes he deserves this spot, but we do not need all these media people making a big deal out of this when it holds no importance. So glad to be back here in smith's backroom and I am going to try to keep posting on a more regular basis.

Something Different

In the wake of realization that my co-blogger is MIA... maybe he just doesn't want to write anymore?  Instead of the usual boom headshot post I do on Wednesdays, I decided to tap into my consciousness.  Although everyone knows I hate a real cliche, just hear me out.  Recently I was just lying in my bed.  Lying there thinking about nothing but everything.  In reality I was just trying to fall asleep, but my brian wouldn't let me sleep in peace.  I kept thinking about events that have past and many what if situations.  I also started to think heavily about things I've done, proud and disappointed with.  I never really think about these things on a daily basis.  What really sucks is when all the guilt and disappointment settles in.  There's nothing specific but there's waves of sadness that really make me think.  But with those shots of negativity come more positive memories which puts a slight smile on my face.  I really don't know how to describe this other than my pondering time.  I guess I wanted to write it down to make it more real.  During my daily tasks of working, sleeping, eating, seeing friends, I don't experience this.  It's forgotten in the crevices in the back of my mind.  It always suddenly hits me when I least expect it.  I guess by writing this in a blog for everyone to see I really yearn for connection of these emotions.  Is this out of place? I don't know. What I do know is that I least its been said and in my mind thats a step towards realization.
