Throughout the NBA season there has been a debate on who is the best player in the National Basketball Association. Two sides have developed, one fan base in support of Kobe Bryant, the Black Mamba, while the other for Lebron James. Even Nike took part creating a line of commercials featuring puppets of both players arguing their case. And each one does have a strong case for being known as the best. Kobe Bryant won MVP in the 2008 season and Jerry West named him the best closer in the game. While Lebron James took home the 2009 MVP award and posts triple-doubles on an incredibly frequent basis. So the question remains who truly is the greatest player in the NBA? While NBA fanatics were getting giddy at the thought of a Kobe Lebron duel for the title in the NBA finals, Superman Dwight Howard and the Magic had other plans knocking the Cavs out in the Eastern Conference finals. This defeat in my mind settles the debate for the time being, because for me at least one needs to win in order to be great. Nothing against Lebron, he was phenomenal in his series, but to be the best you need to win and Lebron fell short in that aspect. Who knows if the Magic win the series, than once again Kobe and Lebron are on equal playing grounds, but with the Lakers up 2-0 and Kobe looking unstoppable this debate seems to have ended for the time being.
